FAQs

What are Nouveau Lashes?
Nouveau Lashes Extensions are an exciting and innovative treatment which gives thicker, longer and natural looking eyelashes. They are not false eyelashes or “individual lashes” this was a name given to a product with 3 or more artificial lashes in clumps which are squeezed on to the client’s own lash) but are monofilament synthetic fibres perfectly shaped like a lash which are bonded with a specially developed cyano-acrylate adhesive.

How do Nouveau Lashes work?
Nouveau Lashes Extensions are a professional product made of a soft and naturally curved synthetic material designed to bond to human eyelashes using a specifically formulated bonding adhesive that creates a permanent bond. This adhesive is still slightly flexible when dry and causes absolutely no damage to the client’s natural eyelash. One Nouveau Lashes extension is applied directly to the client’s own lash in a specific sequence to avoid incorrect bonding to adjacent lashes. This process is repeated until the client has a full set of Nouveau lashes extensions; creating the illusion of fuller, thicker, more defined lashes.

What is the difference between Nouveau Lashes and false lashes?
Designed to thicken and lengthen the client’s natural eyelashes. Nouveau Lashes extensions are nothing like traditional “false lashes”, which are usually in a strip form and are stuck to the client’s eyelashes with self adhesive and last just a few days. Nouveau Lashes extensions are individual and can last up to 2 months depending on the life cycle of the client’s natural lashes. They are manufactured to accurately imitate natural lashes.

For further differences between false lashes and Nouveau Lashes extensions please study the table below…

Do Nouveau Lashes damage the natural lash?
No. Nouveau Lashes do not damage the natural lashes providing they are applied correctly and aftercare instructions are followed. The natural lash will not be damaged unless they are pulled out deliberately with Nouveau Lashes attached to them, in which case the natural lash will be replaced by a new one in due course.

Is the Nouveau Lashes application painful and how long will it take?
Nouveau Lashes applications are not at all painful. In fact they are considered to be one of the most relaxing beauty treatments available today. A full application of Nouveau Lashes will take between 45 minutes and 2 hours, depending on the demands of the client and the experience of the technician. Maintenance procedures will take around 30 minutes.

Are Nouveau Lashes suitable for everyone?...
No. Nouveau Lashes are not suitable for everyone. Nouveau Lashes are an extension of an existing eyelash so it is not possible to apply them to clients with alopecia for example as they often have no lashes. Additionally, clients with fine or brittle eyelashes may not be able to enjoy the benefits of the treatment. You may also find that some clients have excessively oily lashes, which are difficult to prepare properly for the treatment, and despite the correct products being available to cleanse the lashes, correct bonding cannot always be achieved. Clients whose eye lashes grow downwards obscuring the eyes are also not candidates for lash extensions. The treatment will obscure the eyes even more.

Is Nouveau Lashes adhesive safe?
The question “is it safe?” normally refers to the smell or vapours of the adhesive and Nouveau Lashes adhesives do not contain contaminants such as formaldehyde, which emits a noxious vapour that can cause irritation or permanent damage to the cornea. So in that respect it is completely safe. There are so-called lash adhesives on the market which are simply re-bottled “Superglue” the vapour of which could cause immediate corneal failure. These can normally be identified by the pungent smell which causes discomfort when inhaled or in some cases a stinging sensation to the eyes when the bottle is opened. Any cyano-acrylate adhesive is a potentially dangerous product if not handled properly and the correct application methods adhered to. It can also stick skin together in seconds so it must be treated with respect.

Will the adhesive cause me any irritation?
Lash adhesive is a mild irritant to the skin and if brought into contact with the skin, will stick it to any object or other area or skin within seconds. When properly applied, by a trained lash extension technician, the lash extension and the adhesive will only come into contact with the eyelash to be extended and therefore cause no irritation whatsoever. Irritation only occurs when the adhesive is used incorrectly.

Can I have Nouveau Lashes if I have had my eyelashes tinted or permed?
Nouveau lashes can be applied to tinted lashes. Lashes must be clean and dry before the lash extensions are applied. The application of Nouveau Lashes gives a darker overall effect to the lashes which should be taken into consideration before tinting. Permed lashes usually have a strong curl to them so it is difficult to achieve perfect bonding. Your lash technician will ensure that all solutions and conditioners are cleaned from the lashes before the treatment otherwise perfect bonding will not be achieved. A minimum of 24 hours between treatments is recommended.
Do not perm or curl lashes after having eyelash extensions applied this will inevitably break the bond and reduce the lifespan of the lashes.

Are Nouveau Lashes similar to hair extensions?
Nouveau Lashes can be compared to hair extensions but there are also many differences. The whole length of the lash is used for bonding and we attach a single extension to a single lash, whereas hair is extended in small sections and connected with a relatively small length of adhesive.

Can I remove my own lash extensions or do I have to go to the lash technician?
Under no circumstances should you remove your own lashes. They will fall out naturally over the course of time but should you want to remove them sooner, then this should be undertaken professionally by a trained technician. The remover is a chemical substance that should not come into contact with the eyes, be swallowed or inhaled. There are important safety precautions that a properly trained lash technician will take.
